Xfinity has made the next move in their service, their iPad app now can stream movies and shows from OnDemand and premium channels like HBO, Starz, Showtime, and Cinemax, in addition to the remote control and DVR recording features that I've written about here previously. This is good, they could go a little faster with the feature rollout but hey, it's a cable company and this is serious progress. This is also a very important update because the browser version of this feature service requires Flash which is no bueno on the iPad or iPhone. Some features they need to move on quickly:
- apps for Android & iPhone/iPod Touch
- streaming live TV (even in limited chunks, I'd like to access news & sports)
- streaming of my DVR recordings (wouldn't it be great to watch shows that have recorded while I'm away).
I may never watch the TV in my hotel room again (I rarely do now).
